In the winter of 1964, Sports Illustrated was at its usual sales slump. So IF the editorial team decided to try something new.
Babette Marche, a model in a democracy (for now) of the bikini was splashed on the cover of their new February issue and – surprise! – The issue of SI Swimsuit first was almost instant sellout.
Soon, fans of warm-blooded sport for the millions were waiting at mailboxes for delivery of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in an annual winter tradition.
Since then, Sports Illustrated, is credited with almost single-handedly launched the era of the supermodel, leading to the career of Tyra Banks, Christie Brinkley, Rachel Hunter, Elle Macpherson and Kathy Ireland (to name a few) that have since graced the cover.
The landmark 2006 “topless” cover featured models Veronica Varekova, Elle Macpherson, Rebecca Romijn, Rachel Hunter, Daniela Pestova, Elsa Benitez, Carolyn Murphy and Yamila Diaz. Inside, Heidi Klum was the dissemination of photos, it appears (just to keep it quite legitimate as a matter of sport), tennis player Maria Sharapova also appears in the lower right corner on the sub-title, “… what you’ve never Seen Her. ”
Swimsuit 2011
Rumors and rumors were, of course, in supplying large this year, tried to keep the SI Swimsuit issue 2011 cover a closely guarded secret until its official publication in early February.

Irina Shayk, a supermodel since 2004 has been in the top 20 lists sexiest models from around the world and, personally, is currenty main compression soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.
