Avril Lavigne: Did your opinion of Avril Lavigne change after she wrote “Girlfriend”?

I loved her early years (Let Go, Below My Skin) and I was a massive fan. Then one day I heard “Girlfriend” on the radio and I thought, “No way that is Avril Lavigne”. It was like Pop Rock, minus the Rock. But hey, artists change I guess. What is your opinion on this?

Certainly. I used to be a enormous fan of her when I was 11….(psst…I nonetheless like the song ‘Nobody’s Home’, lol!)….but soon after Girlfriend came out it just created me lose all of the little respect I had for her.

Goodbye Lullaby

2011 release, the fourth album from the Canadian Pop diva. Two years in the generating, Lavigne worked with longtime collaborators Deryck Whibley, Evan Taubenfeld and Butch Walker, as properly as songwriter/producer Max Martin. Lavigne continues to share her private experiences via her writing and music, and Goodbye Lullaby is a more evolution of this, propelled by a more raw and natural sound….complete description>>

  1. War is Over [if you want it]

it really did change, i felt like she saw the mainstream world had changed and she wanted to fit in it, so she whored herself up a bit. i liked her early work too.

  2. ωαs iт α lїl ᴅязαм?

Well, I was never really much of a fan, but I liked to listen to her music cause it seemed so suburban. Now she has this average teen garbage which she coats in pink and skulls. Its just complete garbage to me.

  3. Nope.
I still thought she was a talentless fucking waste.

  4. Stevie G: scarred for life

Didn’t like her before that song, still don’t like her after it.

  5. Under The Bridge

Ya I agree with you, I used to love her, I even went to one of her concerts when I was like 10. I liked how she was different and had her own style, but then she turned like pop, and I stopped liking her.

  6. Faithful_Angel

Her voice rocks but yeah, she changed and I do not like the way she is now. It is frustrating to know her changes over these years.

  7. Well I don’t know. Never listened to her as I am a man. Did you know she is a teenage prostitute? Listen to the song “Wrong way” by sublime. it’s about her. her real names annie.

  8. Caan’t stand the women. Don’t get me wrong there are some awesome female singers out there…but this chick is just damn awfull!

  9. Darth Is Karl

No, I thought she was sexy as hell before and I think she’s sexy as hell now.

  10. Not really changed my opinion. People in general can change, grow and/or mature. Their influences can differ from year to year. I used to listen to only country as that is what my parents listen to. 12 years later (there-about) I listen to a whole lot of everything and mainly metal/hard rock.

  11. She went from OK Pop Star Diva Thing to Horrible Pop Star Diva Thing minus the Star and Diva, and +++++ the Thing.

  12. Run Rabbit Run is like a boss!

She used to be my “favorite” but I grew out of her after a while. Then when “Girlfriend” was released I couldn’t stand her at all.

  13. Bleeding Autumn

I absolutely loved her older albums but as soon as Girlfriend came out I was very disappointed. So, I decided to give her a chance and I bought the CD only to realize that all the songs were as obnoxious as Girlfriend. Now, I am very displeased with how her songs have been going.

  14. At first, no.
Then, I realized how much of a piece of crap it was.

I used to be a massive fan of hers when I was 12 (back when “Skater Boy”, “I’m With You”, and “Complicated” came out), but yea, I hate her song “Girlfriend”..it’s an annoying song..her voice sounds very squeaky in it.
“Hey, hey, you, you, I could be your girlfriend, No way, No way, No it’s not a secret”…ugh.

Thanks, now I have that song stuck in my head. haha :P

  16. Yeah, I liked her more. It take a real artist to reinvent themself and she did it successfully. :)
